ohhhhhhhhhh be the voice, where have you been all of my bossa life...
if i had the the time i'd upload every single song in their discog, but i'm itching to fall asleep. so while i can't let the post go useless, here's one of the standouts from their album 'drawing':
her voice... so refreshing... so romantic, in the old fashioned 'beautiful' kinda meaning. i'm enthralled. i haven't been so progressively engrossed in an artist so quickly since first discovering pendulum...
Although mostly just a collection of B-sides and re-recordings, AKFG's new album Feedback File is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawessssoooooooomeeeee. The Siren re-recording is... decent. It's definitely not the original, but it's still Siren, so it's still the best akfg song ever. Although, as it's the reason I made this post in the first place, I have to say that one of the singles from the album may be competing for the top spot on my favorites list:
SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOD. D: And apparently I don't know enough about the band cause I thought the video was boring at first, but I read that it's all footage spanning from their start in 2001 to now, showing them growing as a band and whatnot. semit doog.
How many times do you get to say you were featured in a Bemani artist's news column [blog]?
=)
So, the much anticipated (by me) second best-hits album of sorts from m-flo was released yesterday, titled "m-flo inside -Works Best II-". There really isn't much to review other than the album as a whole, since the amount of really genuine new content is at a minimum. There's a decent amount of exclusive tracks in the mix cd, most of which are highly enjoyable. I won't delve too much into the first CD, since it's basically all been heard before - no more praise needed on m-flo's production ability. The best part of the release?
Nearly all of the tracks on cd 2 (the mix cd) are pre-Astromantic.
SOLD. Color me ecstatic. =D
Deckstream does a par job on the mixing, with the focus obviously on classic m-flo's r&b/hip-hop sound. Exclusives are scattered throughout the list, as well as a few tunes from recent m-flo artist collabs. It's really enjoyable to listen to from start to finish, something I usually don't find in most mix CD's nowadays. The track order selection is superb.
Overall, I'd have to say for being basically just a 'best of' type of release, it's definitely wtb. But what m-flo release isn't...? Yeah... I may just be a bit too biased here.
Final Judgment: 9/10
And for any doubters, this track alone should be reason enough to give it a whirl. You can't beat a Fantastic Plastic Machine and m-flo collaboration... seriously. It's FPM's original single "Tell Me" with newly added Ryohei and Verbal goodness, with the remix billed to Ryohei himself. Word. Up.
I can't wait for what m-flo has in store for the future. There's a rumored US concert (tour, perhaps) coming to LA next year, and of course, their next artist album coming up sometime next year as well (hopefully).
BLINGGG!
What's the one CD that will totally remind you of the Summer of 2006?
While there's still some time left to sweep my tastes before summer closes, thus far the album of the moment for me is "Fan Club", Asian Kung-Fu Generation's latest addition to their already stellar discography. Comparable to their mind-blowingly catchy line-up in "Sol-fa", each song has it's own identity and feel.
One of the first thoughts that popped into my mind after giving it a few listens was that, it's really one of those albums where there aren't exactly any stand-out songs that steal the show, but the collective quality of each track combines to make the whole album a gem of good, quality listening. I can't say that for many albums recently, let alone entirely. It's good to come across such a release every now and then.
And I have to mention, I don't listen to many 'albums' really, as electronic music is my primary dig (where the focus is on singles and compilation releases instead of whole, single-artist albums). Now, I'd have a much easier time if the qotd were asking for a single song, since m-flo's "Summer Time Love" single pops into my head at least 3 times a day now.
I wish this qotd came a couple weeks later though, as I'm highly anticipating m-flo's new compilation "m-flo Inside -Works Best II-". Even though it's comprised of tracks that aren't exactly fresh out of the studio, it looks to be a must-have for any sensible m-flo fan.
